White Porcelain Subway Tile

Montrose Avenue is a station on the BMT Canarsie Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Montrose and Bushwick Avenues in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it is served by the L train at all times.
This station opened on September 21, 1924 as the eastern terminus of the initial segment of the underground Canarsie Line, a product of the Dual Contracts, stretching west to Sixth Avenue station in Manhattan. Originally, the Canarsie Line was planned to be elevated between Montrose Avenue and Broadway Junction, not underground.
This station has two tracks and two side platforms. The mosaic band and name tablets on both platforms are of exquisite cut porcelain with vivid pastel shades of sky blue, cerulean blue, rose, yellow, maize and white, on a background of black, raspberry and greyed lavender. Hexagon "M" tablets run along the trim line at regular intervals. Blue stripes adorn the top and bottom of the tile band. Blue I-beam columns run along both platforms at regular intervals with alternating ones having the standard black name plate in white lettering.
This station has one mezzanine above the center of the platforms and tracks. Two staircases from each side go

NYC - East Village: Astor Place Subway Station
NYC - East Village: Astor Place Subway Station

Astor Place, also called Astor Place–Cooper Union on signs, is a station on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Completed in 1904, it is one of the original twenty-eight stations in the system. Located at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Astor Place in the East Village, Manhattan, it is served by the 6 train at all times and by the 4 during late nights. The original plans for the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad (now PATH) included a spur along Ninth Street to this station. Astor Place is a local station with two side platforms. The northbound platform contains a news and candy stand, which replaced the original public women's lavatory. On the southbound side, the station has a department store entrance into a K-Mart, which was originally constructed in 1868 as an A.T. Stewart and a Wanamaker's when the station was constructed. The heavy brick-faced square columns on the downtown platform supported the old Wanamaker's store. Plaques of beavers are...

Remodeled Bathroom
Remodeled Bathroom

Mike did the tiling over the tub that had to be replaced because the previous owner had done such a poor job and the water had seeped in from the improperly installed window. I chose the white subway tile because it was more vintage. The faucet has those fun white porcelain handles, but not visible here. Mike also found a replacement vanity which he liked because it had a bigger sink. We put the old vanity in the back house to replace one in worse condition over there. Before picture.
